Homemade acne remedies are not one of those complicated skin care masks or skin remedies. They are ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen cabinets right now. Some you might not have handy but it is worth spending some money to get a hold of them.

Here are a few quick homemade acne remedies to get you started:

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a strong antiseptic that not only cleanses the skin and removes the impurities, it creates a layer on the skin that prevents future inflammation and infection. Some people might find apple cider vinegar to be an irritant so make sure you test it on the inner side of the arm; don't proceed if there is any redness or irritation.

To use it as a home remedy for acne, dilute some vinegar with water (8 parts water: 1 part vinegar), dip cotton balls into the solution and rub your face gently (be careful not to touch the eyes!).

Baking soda

Simply mix some baking soda with water until you get a paste like consistency. Apply it liberally on the face and let it stay for 20-30 seconds, that's plenty. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry.

Baking soda is an exfoliator and it is often used in facial scrubs. It is a gentle scrub so unless you rub the face vigorously, there are no risks involved.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is one of the greatest natural cleansers and exfoliants. Oatmeal is a potent anti-inflammatory agent, used on every skin type and including sensitive/problem skin type that can react badly to various ingredients. This will not happen when you use oatmeal, it is gentle and neutral.

To treat acne, you can either grind some oatmeal and mix it with water to create a paste similar to the baking soda one, or you can cook some, let it cool down, apply it on the face by using gentle, circular motion, and then wash the face off. In either case, your face will feel clean and refreshed.

Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is one of the ingredients I mentioned might not be readily available but it is so widely used in natural skin care that it is a good idea to buy a bottle and have it ready. Tea tree oil is a strong antiseptic and it is used to treat anything from dandruff, skin inflammation, insect bites, to yes, acne.

Use tea tree oil diluted (with another carrier oil such as jojoba) and dab a bit on the area where acne appeared. Don't slather it all over the face; tea tree oil is strong enough to be used only on the affected area. Be careful to use it diluted, as I said, as tea tree oil can be toxic if overused or used improperly.

There is no ';miracle'; or ';overnight'; cure for acne. Combine the use of homemade acne remedies with proper nutrition and generally good skin care routine, and you are guaranteed to see reduction of acne and improvement of the overall skin texture.
