Heya Gradgirl!
I'd tell you to prevent getting them by keeping a good cleansing routine but hey sometimes no matter how you clean, you get em anyway, right?
But before you start getting rid of them yourself, find out, is it a mild case of blackheads or is it rather severe? If its severe then you should go see a dermatologist.
Now if its just mild, instead of spending soooo much on beauty products, theres this 5 step routine I read about that you should do 2-3x a week.
1. Wash your face with a mild exfoliating agent. Use a LOW POTENCY benzoyl peroxide to break up the blackheads rooted in the skin. BUT DONT USE TOO MUCH of the product and DONT OVER SCRUB YOUR FACE.
2. Steam your face. You can put some hot water in a basin, put a few drops of tea trea oil as an antibacterial agent, then cover your head with a towel and allow the steam to open up your pores for about 5minutes.
3. Extract. You can use a STERILIZED/CLEAN extractor (ya know that small metal rod with a loop at the end?) or pore strips or a blackhead removing mask.
4. Rinse with luke warm water
5. PAT Dry
If you do this routine 2x a week you would probably see results by the third week.
But if you want more affordable remedies for blackheads that you can try at home, check out the site below.
BTW, make sure you do this routine at night when you wont go out of the house anymore because you shouldnt put anything on your face afterwards to avoid clogging/infecting any open pores.
G'luck! What is the best way to get rid of black heads?
Try opening your pours by:
Firstly pouring some boiling water into a bowl
Then get a towel and put it over your head.
Put your face above the bowl.
You need to use the towel to trap the steam to open your pours.
After that wash your face with a good face wash (preferably a blackhead eliminating one) This cleans you pours.
Then close you pours by putting freezing cold water all over your face.
Then dry your face on a CLEAN towel.
After this moisturise for great healthy skin.
Good luck,
Lydia xx
just get any kind of astringent or toner that contains salicylic acid and dab onto the blackheads....
I use Avon Clearskin: Double Action Cleanser it seems to work well and not that expansive
